Bladder Infection...Yeast Infection....Oh my

So I am in fact infected. I have a bladder infection and what seems to be a yeast infection. It is painful and I am not sure why I am not on antibiotics. I went to a walk in clinic and the doctor scared the shit out of me. He said that it can impact my pregnancy but then just told me to follow up this weekend. Instead I have made a follow up appointment at my family doctor. I want to be treated especially if it can impact my pregnancy. Yep, here I am freaking out again. Why can't anything be easy!!!

  1. I had a UTI very early in my pregnancy (5w6d) and my midwife told me it was incredibly common because everything is growing down there and pressing on your bladder and other "pee stuff" differently. She put me on antibiotics and it was fine. I *think* it's more of an issue later in pregnancy, but I could be wrong. The antibiotics gave me a yeast infection that would not go away. I finally had to get another script for that.

The walk in clinic doctor may have not given you antibiotics because he was scared to. My dentist wouldn't even touch me until I had a letter from my midwife saying it was fine and then refused to give me an antibiotic for a tooth infection. Some doctors are too afraid of the liability, I think.

Either way, following up with a doctor comfortable with treating pregnant ladies is a good idea. If it's painful, you definitely want an antibiotic to clear it up.

    Hope you feel better!

  2. Ugh, what a pain (literally!) Do you have an OB yet you can see for this? Seems like they might know what's appropriate to treat you with in this situation. Hope you are able to get it resolved quickly.

  3. I never get yeast infections and had two early on in this pregnancy. You can only take the 6 or 7 day packs as they are much less strong. Apparently yeast infections can be quite normal in pregnancy (normal but uncomfortable!!!).

  4. I would talk to an OB...they would be better equipped in knowing what to do. These are pretty common in pregnancy and definitely should be treated. Chalk it up to the hormones. HUGS! I hope it gets better!

  6. If you take an antibiotic go and get yourself a good probiotic. It will help all the good bacteria in your tummy and will really help with the yeast. It's a catch 21 when you take a antibiotic for yeast because it will help initially but will kill the good tummy bacteria which can lead to more yeast infections and the probiotics will also help with the UTI. Good Luck

  7. I had a yeast infection when I was pregnant with my son, likely from my progesterone suppositories. The RE recommended the cream only and it cleared up quickly.

Ugh UTI's are the worst! Hope you feel better soon!

  9. If you take an anti-biotic go and get yourself a excellent pro-biotic. It will help all the excellent germs in your stomach and will really help with the abolish. It's a hook 21 when you take a anti-biotic for abolish because it will help at first but will wipe out the excellent stomach germs which can cause to more microbe infections and the probiotics will also help with the UTI. Good Success

  10. I am sorry to hear that. It really gets scary especially when we were told that it may affect the baby. Just make sure that it is treated promptly though to prevent the infection from getting worse.
