Busy????

What a month! I used to cringe when people (strangers) said "twins, you must be so busy". I hated that it was the first thing people always said to me and I would think to myself, "not really because I am on top of things". Now I want to eat my words! This twin thing is a lot of work and I now know it is just the beginning. People foolishly told me that the first 3 months are the hardest. To be honest I loved every second and I was on autopilot. Yes we were sleep deprived but we had a schedule, we were disciplined and most of all we were so happy to be parents. I mean like deliriously happy, we were content just staring at the boys and we couldn't get over the fact that they were ours. The next months flew by so quickly and things were very smooth. Yes Fynn  liked to fuss but he is a baby and that is to be expected. They slept when they were "supposed" to and things just seemed to fall into place. People would often stop me when I was out by myself (with the boys) and tell me how brave they thought I was. They also commented on the fact that I didn't look tired, well I wasn't I was getting my regular 8 hours of sleep a night so why would I be. Even my mother (who is amazing but not one to tell you when you are doing a good job) said she was amazed at how I handled things. Well the other shoe has dropped this month. That's right it is no longer "easy", I have lost my stride and am literally exhausted by the end of the day. Tonight for example I still have my boots on and I can't even imagine wasting the energy to bend over and take them off, I might even sleep in them. You see this month the boys are officially mobile. I mean they move, and they move quickly.  We have a little house and this isn't helping the situation at all. Not only do they crawl but they both pull up on everything in sight (both to their knees and Fynn occassionally to his feet). What the heck am I going to do when they can walk, I am sooooooo screwed

  1. I can't imagine being as busy as you are right now :s as it is the past few weeks have been exhausting for me with just one mobile child. I've had no time to blog just a few minutes now and then to read and get a couple comments in lol

I think/hope that this phase will just take some adapting (us parents lol) and then hopefully we won't be feeling so run down? Maybe? ... One can dream!

    1. I am glad to hear it isn't just me who can't catch up. I have some guilt that I am not to give each child my undivided attention all of the time. I guess we will find our stride soon and as soon as we think we have figured things out things will change again....lol

  2. Ahh I can't even imagine how you feel at the end of a day. My little gal is officially crawling and pulling up this month and it is crazy how much more it is to keep up with!! I am constantly pulling her away from dangerous objects and bumping her head, etc. So you should be so proud of doing it with two.. even if too exhausted to move at the end of a day!! You rock! I hope it gets a bit easier as you (and me both) get used to this new found mobility... although I fear the whole walking/running thing will be the opposite of easier! :/ Hmm... well at least they are super cute right?!

  3. You should get this toy i have (i'm not joking)... the girls love it and have loved it since they first started crawling and pulling up. Every child who enters this house loves it. It's called the little tykes activity garden. Seriously would play with it all day if they could. It obviously won't solve everything but it might help.

  4. I saw that toy online and wondered if would be as fun as it looked! I will have to check it out as well. I can't imagine how busy life is with 2 busy boys! You deserve a massage and a night out! How people can survive babies who aren't on schedules is beyond me!

  6. The age when babies start to move until they are sturdy on their feet is exhausting for anyone- and you have two! My sister has twins who are now 1.5 and she thinks they are easier now that they are past that phase. Good luck- you are doing great.

I saw a post on a mother of twins blog once where she wrote that people always commented how she has her hands full. Her response, "If you think my hands are full, you should see my heart."

  7. My boys just turned 14 months and they keep me so darn busy. The only break I really get is when they are napping or down for the night. It is such a great age, because they are learning so much- but yes it can be so exhausting. Good luck!
