I got knocked down but I get back up again

Well, I have really been enjoying not ttc for the last month and to be honest I am not ready to get right back into it. We were going to start another IVF cycle after my next period but decided to book a cruise instead....haha. I figure what better way to "relax" then to go on a vacation. I have some guilt because we just got back from California and we will be paying out of pocket for our next round of IVF but I guess not bad enough. We got a great deal on a one week cruise ($1000 for both of us) and we can even squeeze in a visit with my parents (the cruise is out of Miami and my parents life in Naples for the winter)
Today, I had my WTF appointment and nothing earth shattering was revealed. They said the next cycle would be a shorter, more intense cycle. The one thing that really bothered me was when hubby said that we were interested in pursuing another cycle in the next couple of months, the doctor laughed under his breath and said atleast another. Uh...not really liking the idea of many more cycles and the casual way that he was snickering about it.....just saying.
Anyways, just wondering if anybody has any input on Antagonist versus microflare cycles for someone of my "advanced" age and with stage 4 endo???
I hope everyone is having a great new year!

  1. Hmm...not sure I like that your doctor said that either.
I say take what time you need to regroup. That's what we are doing and it's been nice.

I hope this next round works better for you than this last one. Good Luck!

  2. That was a really tacky comment and so unprofessional. If he doesn't think ivf is going to work for y'all, then he needs to be honest about your chances instead of laughing about it. Wow. Glad y'all are taking a cruise...sounds wonderful!

  4. I don't love that your doc laughed - highly unprofessional! Not sure about the difference in cycles.

Enjoy the cruise! You deserve some good times!!!

  6. Hmmm....not sure 34 qualifies as 'advanced age' but I hear ya. It gets really old after a while doing this infertility thing. I'm really advanced age and pretty much started with Antagonist protocols. It couldn't hurt to try a different protocol. You never know. I used a pretty straightforward Ganirelix protocol (stim with Gonal-f and Menopur and then use Ganirelix for a few days to prevent ovulation). I also used the Estrogen Priming Protocol. I'm not sure if any of them are reputed to work especially with Stage 4 endo or not. The cruise sounds wonderful!

I would have kicked that Dr. in the face. You are a good woman. LOL!

And, don't feel bad for treating yourselves to a VACATION!!!! Enjoy it. Guilt free!!!!

I think it is great you are taking some time off for yourselves before jumping into another cycle!!

I think it does wonders for the mind and body to be fresh and ready to fight for the next cycle!!

I have passed on an award to you, stop by my blog in a bit to check it out!!

  11. I'm on the not-liking-the-doc's-comment bandwagon. I mean, really? Really!

A cruise for $1000 for BOTH of you??? How awesome! And I totally get not wanting to jump right on the IVF train....it's nerve-wracking, and cruising sounds much better (literally and figuratively). :D
